During our recent long weekend in Vermont, we discovered a patch of wild blackberries at Mema and Pa’s house. We could tell that some large animal had been in the patch, and Pa thinks it was the bear the neighbors have often spotted crossing the property. We were glad to be picking the berries in the daytime, and when my mom and I went out to look for shooting stars that night we could only think about the bear. But back to the blackberries: Joshua loved them!
He cleaned off in the kiddie pool after getting covered in purple juice. The cup on his head was his “Happy Birthday Hat!”

What an adorable baby! He makes the berries look really yummy. You’ve inspired me. I think my son who is 2 would really enjoy an experience like this maybe I will take him and my niece apple picking in the fall. It is the smaller memories like that which are remembered, I remember going apple picking it was wonderful. Thanks FD – great post.

Those are some sweet pictures! My eldest used to claim that blackberries were nature’s paint. What he meant was head-to-toe body paint, but they come out. Eventually. :)
