We took Joshua for his first fishing trip over Memorial Day weekend. He likes to play with his fishing pole at home and catch little magnetic fish, so we were looking forward to how he’d like the real thing. The Rod & Gun Club was having a children’s fishing derby and we had a ton of fun!
Daddy comes from a family of fisherman and he was excited to pass that tradition on to Joshua.
We weren’t very interested in fishing, so instead we waded into the water and splashed around.
Joshua had fun visiting with his cousin, grandparents, aunt and uncle while we were there. His cousin Luke caught a fish right away, a brown trout!
Finally, Joshua caught a rainbow trout! It measured 13.5″ long and Joshua even won a prize for it!
After he selected some construction equipment as his prize, he was much more interested in playing than continuing to fish. When his fishing pole caught another fish we shared it with the little boy who was fishing next to us so he could get a prize, too. Then we all had a picnic lunch and headed home for a nap. It was a wonderful day!
