This was the last week of my summer vacation! We went to the beach twice, I got together with girlfriends and worked on my Christmas scrapbook, we finalized stuff with childcare, I did some school work and worked on organizing the house, and we started to prepare for Hurricane Irene.
As of today CT residents have been told to be prepared for a week without power. My big concern is water, but I bought some and my parents have city water so we can always go take jugs from them. I’ll be filling empty bottles today and putting them in the fridge, too. We have a propane stove and gas grill, so cooking won’t be that bad either.
I’m hoping that everyone stays safe and there’s not too much damage. Losing all the apples off the trees at the farm is a big concern. And now there’s speculation that our first few days of school could be impacted if there’s no power or if the roads aren’t clear for the buses. I really don’t want that to happen! We had eight snow days last year and I don’t want to start this year with a hurricane day!
Are you in an area that’s impacted by Hurricane Irene? What are you doing to prepare?
